LABBS was founded in 1976 and has gone from strength to strength and now has a membership of over 1,900 in 50 Choruses. Our members are women who excel in singing the unique art form of Barbershop Harmony. The standard of our Quartets and Choruses never ceases to amaze me and we can all be proud of those that represent us as our Champions.
Convention 2009 was held in October at Cheltenham Race Course, where The White Rosettes (Leeds) won the Gold Medal, Signature (Iver Heath) took the Silver Medal and Green Street Blues (Sevenoaks) took the Bronze Medal, however, the standard of all our choruses was amazing. Again, the standard of Quartets was outstanding and Finesse (Garden Isle/Norwich/CAL) won the Gold Medal, with Enigma (Iver Heath) taking the Silver Medal and Miss-Demeanour (Lymm/CAL) taking the Bronze Medal. Congratulations to all on their performances; everyone who took part in the competitions can be justifiably proud. 2009 is fading into our memories and 2010 is finally here. With that comes a new decade and new opportunities. Let us all focus on our priorities, stretch our comfort zone and recognise the lessons we have learned during the past year. I hope 2010 brings you success in all your endeavours. If you are not yet a Barbershop singer, why not contact a club near you and I promise you that you will never look back – I didn’t and the friendship and support that I have received over the years has been unbelievable. If you are under 25, why not join The IVY League, the LABBS Youth Chorus!
In harmony,
